SINCE 1950
PART OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Wilders Bakery is a historical landmark right in the middle of the beautiful town of Young in NSW.
Young is also known as the Cherry Capital of Australia, so it’s no surprise our famous local produce is the star in our signature cherry pie.
If you find yourself in Young in December, make sure to visit us during the annual cherry festival (and maybe even participate in our pie eating competition!)
OUR HISTORY
BAKING DAILY SINCE 1950
Wilders is a family owned and operated bakery located in Young NSW.
The Wilder Family have been serving the community and surrounds for over 70 years with handmade, home baked goods using locally grown and sourced ingredients.
The bakery opened in 1950 by newlyweds Milty & Olga Wilder. Keen to kick off their life and business together they lived and worked on the premises, side by side for 30years. Their aim was to deliver a quality product and large variety. They made cakes, pastries, bread, pies and sweet buns. As the bakery grew so did their family with the birth of a daughter, Wendy and son, Alan.
OUR HISTORY
CONTINUED...
Alan and Wendy took over the business in1989. Wilders Bakery grew steadily with them sinking any profits into improvements, equipment and staff. Coffee and seating were introduced, providing 4 tables and sixteen chairs. With popularity and demand there is now a second story, balcony and conference room with seating for 150.
From humble beginnings the Wilders Family Brand has grown. The Wilders Bakery andCafé is open 7 days a week and employs 33 people.
In 2020 Alan retired. With Wendy leading and her three sons by her side, a third generation now works in the business, securing the future of Wilders for many more years.
Built on hard work and the love of baking Wilders is a true testimony to family, commitment and good old-fashioned having a go.
AN INSPIRING VENUE
With two floors and a balcony, our busy bakery offers an inviting, comfortable environment to meet a friend for a coffee or a meal. There is plenty of room and a play corner for the kids, too.
We always welcome groups, just give us a call to discuss. We can even host and cater your next function!
But you don’t have to come to Young to taste our fine food: most weekends we can be found at a variety of markets around Sydney. Many of these markets make for a great morning out – we’d love to see you at one of them!
